Esko at Hermantown
7:15 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 3

Esko has become one of the best basketball programs in Class 2A, with the Eskomos making the state tournament in each of the last three years and winning a title two years ago.

Despite the success, Esko hsn't been able to figure out one team: Hermantown.

The Eskomos have lost the past five matchups, with their last victory coming in 2010. However, each of the games has been very close, with the winning margin being a total of 21 points. The Hawks swept the regular season series last year, winning 66-62 and 54-5.

No. 7-2A Esko (2-0) gets another crack at No. 6-3A Hermantown (0-2) this week.

Eskomos coach Mike Devney has a luxury few coaches in any class have in 7-foot-2 sophomore center Adam Trapp.

Trapp was held to just four points in Esko's 57-41 over Pequot Lakes in the opener, but the Eskomos proved they're not a one-trick team as senior guard Jaxson Turner picked up the scoring slack with a team-high 18 points.
