It's been eight months since Esko finished as the state Class 2A champs, but the Eskomos showed no rust in defeating Pine City 74-50 in the season opener Nov. 21.  

The victory was Esko's 17th straight dating back to January, and this Polar Conference team will try to make it 18 when it hosts Moose Lake-Willow River on Tuesday.

The Eskomos lost most of their scoring from last season but return seniors Nate Johnson and Aaron Olson along with junior Jaxson Turner. Turner averaged 8.2 points per game in the regular season and is the team's top returning scorer.

The Rebels lean on seniors Brad Fossum and Charlie Adamczak for scoring. Fossum averaged 16.2 points per game in the regular season; Adamczak averaged 12.5 points per game.

Esko defeated Moose Lake-Willow River 82-65 last season.
