Plainview-Elgin-Millville vs. No. 8-2A Braham
4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 8
At Target Center, Minneapolis

A game at the Target Center is always a treat, and even more so when it features two strong programs such as Plainview-Elgin-Millville and Braham. The Bulldogs have been to four of the last seven state tournaments and won the Class 2A title in 2012. In the last decade, Braham has qualified for seven state tournaments and won three straight Class 2A crowns from 2004-06. Both won 20-plus games last winter but didn’t reach their ultimate goal of the state tourney. Braham is on track, as it opened this winter with a loss but has won 13 consecutive games since then. Sophomore John Larson (20.3 ppg) looks like the next big Bombers’ star, as the point guard is a natural scorer and penetrator. P-E-M returned all five starters from last year’s team, including high-scoring Nick Shanks (27.2 ppg) and Schuyler Thompson (18.4 ppg).
